DU to issue fourth cutoff list today

Admissions will continue based on the fourth cutoff list to be issued by DU on Thursday. However, a majority of colleges will close admission to several courses, including popular ones.

It's the off-campus colleges where there was admissions rush after announcement of the third cutoff. It is likely that in most of these colleges there will not be a fourth cutoff for popular courses like BCom (honours), economics, physics and chemistry.

However, in North Campus, Hansraj is likely to have seats remain open for admissions in English, Hindi, Sanskrit, botany and anthropology. In Hindu, a fourth list is likely for physics, commerce, English, economics, sociology and BSc physical sciences (with electronics). "There wasn't much rush after the third list admissions. History and political science are full and chemistry is almost full," says Hindu principal, Pradyumn Kumar.

Miranda House, too, witnessed over-admissions, and seats are likely for fourth list is likely only in BA Programme and applied physical sciences. "We are at the fag end of admissions.

We have massive over-admission in economics, maths, political science and physics," Pratibha Jolly, principal, Miranda House, says.

In off-campus colleges like Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, admissions will be available in computer science, electronics, botany and zoology. In Kamala Nehru College there is a possibility of a fourth cutoff in economics, mathematics and philosophy. "There have been many transfers within the college from one subject to another after the third list was declared," says Geetesh Nirban of KNC. There were some withdrawals in commerce as well.
